In the modern world, there is an increasing focus not only on profit and efficiency but also on social responsibility. In today’s business environment, social responsibility has become not just a moral imperative but also a powerful competitive advantage. Socially responsible businesses do not limit themselves to pursuing profit alone – they consciously incorporate environmental protection, employee well-being, and community strengthening into their operational strategies. Such businesses not only shift societal perspectives but also reap tangible benefits that lead to long-term success. Consumers today are more conscious and choose brands that align with their values. A business that supports communities, social enterprises, or prioritizes environmental sustainability is more likely to earn customer loyalty and trust. For many companies, this becomes a crucial factor in standing out in a competitive market.
Social enterprises – businesses with a special mission
Social enterprises are becoming an increasingly important part of the business ecosystem today, as they aim not only for profit but also to address various social and environmental issues. These are businesses that strive to tackle significant problems such as poverty reduction, environmental protection, the inclusion of people with disabilities, and job creation for vulnerable groups in society. Such enterprises occupy a unique position between traditional profit-driven businesses and non-profit organizations. They use market mechanisms to achieve a dual goal: generating financial returns and creating a positive impact on society. In the current context, where more attention is being paid to sustainability, social change, and community well-being, social enterprises are gaining increasing significance.
For example, businesses that employ people with disabilities create opportunities for those who might otherwise have no chance of finding a job, socializing, or realizing their potential. Such companies not only provide employment but also strengthen social integration, reduce segregation, and foster overall well-being. At “Regseda,” even completely blind individuals work effectively, performing tasks such as gluing, folding, assembling small components, packaging, sewing, and similar jobs. This way, we provide job opportunities for those who have lost their professional and general employability, are economically inactive, and cannot compete on equal terms with able-bodied individuals in the job market. The company encourages these people to return to the workforce and supports their social integration, thereby also reducing social exclusion. Currently, “Regseda” employs 191 people with disabilities, with nearly half of them having visual impairments.
Strengthening Communities
Social enterprises often operate within local communities and are closely connected to local residents. While social enterprises face challenges such as lower profit margins and difficulties in scaling, their business model ensures long-term sustainability. A social enterprise creates value not only for its owners but also for the broader community, making its longevity rooted in strong relationships with the community, consumers, and other stakeholders. By supporting social enterprises, you contribute directly to the well-being of your local community. You help create sustainable jobs, promote entrepreneurship, and support social equality.
Why is your support so important?
Social enterprises cannot thrive without strong and conscious support from the community. Every purchase, decisions that favor social enterprises, and your support are what enable these businesses to grow, expand, and reach more people. Your support for a social enterprise is an investment in long-term change and a more sustainable future. It allows social enterprises to grow, address important social issues, and create added value that benefits everyone—from local communities to global markets. Together, you contribute to the creation of a new, responsible, and sustainable economy.
By supporting a social enterprise, you also enhance the image of your organization or business. Modern society values companies that support socially responsible initiatives, so your support can help create or strengthen a positive reputation both among customers and partners. It demonstrates that your business cares not only about profit but also about society and community well-being.
